New Apple iPod Prices in the Philippines

Update: New prices now available! [Read here]

So much for my earlier speculation about the Power Mac Center being the first store in the Philippines to sell the new Apple iPods locally. Last night, I came to Cyberzone SM megamall to check out if there was anything new, and sure enough, there was something. The new Apple iPod Nano was already available at the Apple store on the corner!

I failed to capture a photo of the new 3G iPod Nanos on display on the transparent walls of the Apple store in SM Megamall Cyberzone but I'll be back later on the day to take pictures of it to show you. I asked the store clerks how much the Nanos cost and found out that they actually sell it cheaper than the forecast price, at only P8,990 for the 4GB Silver Model. The 8GB model with 5 available versions, meanwhile, retails for only a little less than P12,000 (I forgot how much exactly, I think P11,990?). To get video-out, you'd have to spend an extra 2,000 bucks or so, which can go cheaper if somebody manages to make the new iPods work with third-party components. I was also informed that the iPod Touch isn't available yet. Only those new iPod Nanos and shuffles, I guess. I'll be back with photos and updates on the availability and prices tomorrow.
